-Chicken soup for the pet lovers soul
-Socks
-A six or seven year old kid had a little mutt puppy named socks. He got real close to the dog. One day he turned up missing and the guy kept crying about it. Over the years he got over it. Then one day his son had also lost a dog. Then the pain came back to him. He was desperate to find the dog because he was seeing himself all over again. After many hours of running and screaming for the dog he found him. He remembered socks and felt like he had also found him and that he was home again.
-An interesting thing about this is that the father saw himself in the kids eyes and felt like he was looking for socks. And when he found his sons dog and when he found it he felt like he had found socks.
Chicken Soup for the Womans Soul.
"Taking a Break"
This story is a story, telling a story. ahah. Okay it describes how it is hard to be a working woman, but even harder to be a woman with kids and still hold a job. A woman had 3 children were playing cops and robbers at the house, when one of her sons "Shoots" the mother and yells out "BANG! YOU'RE DEAD!" So the mother drops to the ground and does not get up right away. One of the neighbors saw her fall, and went over to see if she was okay from the fall, as soon as the neighbor approaches her, the mother goes "SHH! don't give me away. Its the only chance i get to rest."
I thought this story was funny because usually parents stress when they don't get enough rest, she was able to play along and turn it into her own little joke but be so serious about it.
Chicken Soup for the Soul
Title: Puppies for Sale
This story is about a store owner had 5 puppies he was trying to sell. So he tacked a sigh in his window that said “puppies for sell.” A little boy walked in and asked how much and the store owner replied “Anywhere from 30 to 50 dollars.” The little boy reached into his pocket and pulled out some change “I have 2.37,” “ he said can I please look at them?” So a lady in the back brought out a 5 teeny, tiny balls of fur and one puppy was lagging behind and he asked what was wrong with him. The store owner told him that the vet examined the puppy and discovered that it didn’t have a hip socket. The little boy got excite and said that’s the puppy I want to by and the store owner insisted that he just give it to him cause that puppy could never run and play like the other puppies. And the boy lifted up his pant leg to reveal a badly twisted, cripple left leg that was supported by a metal brace. And the boy said “Well I cant run so well myself, and the little puppy will need someone who understands.”
This story is really sweet. It was written by Dan Clark from the Weathering the Storm.

Today I read about Rome. They say that Rome was the center of a great civilization long ago. Laws and government were very important to the people of Rome. Ancient Romans were also great builders, especially of roads and waterways. Many of their ideas about government and building are still important to us today. Also long ago the Romans united different lands into an empire. The roman empire covered most of Europe. Rome was the most important city in the empire.
I think that they were a strong civilization. They also were very structure people. I also think that they should of kept fighting so that they would still be around.
I learned that they took most of the land in Europe.

A book of short stories
Today I started reading the short story of Jessica Hagedorn. It was titled, “The Exile Within/ The Question of Identity.” In the beginning, she elaborated on the basis of trying to define “Asian American culture.” There were many questions that came to mind when she thought of that idea. She tries to explain how not everyone is the same just because their skin colors are similar. Jessica was born in Manila, Philippines in 1949 and immigrated to the United States at age fourteen. She started publishing her poetry widely in the later sixties and is now the leader and lyricist of the Gangster Choir Band. Her being born was an upbringing that was typically Catholic. I am starting to get attached to this book because it talks about all the problems that had happened and that are still happening today. I think she will make a lot of profit off her books. I also like that she is an independent author and doesn’t depend on anybody’s opinion to take her down. In fact, this book is based on history.
This morning I read a story called “My First Kiss, and Then Some” from the book Chicken Soup For the Teenage Soul III. It was about a very shy high school girl and her very shy boyfriend. They live in a small town and been going out for about six months. They have never kissed before, they only hold hands and watch movies. They both wanted to kiss but they were both too nervous. He made some moves on her but she backed away. She finally asked him to kiss her and he ended up kissing her teeth. Since she was so shy she practically hid for the rest of high school. She did not have another date during high school. During her first year of college she finally learned not to be shy and how to kiss. In the spring she went home and went to a local bar. At the bar the boy who kissed her teeth was at the bar, she went over to him and kissed him. Then he introduced her to his wife. I liked this story because it was very sweet and she overcame her shyness. I thought the most interesting fact was that she hadn't kissed anyone until college.
Hi Miss jade!!!! I hope your having lots of fun. Those pictures look really pretty!!! (mr.d said you didn't tae them)
♥ This morning I read an article in Entertainment Weekly on Paris Hilton finally going home after spending 23 days in jail for violating her probation on a reckless driving conviction. swarming behind a police barrier, Hilton waved and beamed but ignored shouted questions as she left the jail about 12:15 a.m. “She has fulfilled her debt to society and it's now concluded," said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore. Hilton is scheduled to give her first post-jail television interview Wednesday on CNN's "Larry King Live" show after ABC and NBC dropped rival offers last week. The imprisonment -and temporary release - of Paris Hilton ignited a global media storm and raised questions about celebrity justice.
"This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done," she said in a statement. "I have had a lot of time to reflect and have already learned a bitter but important lesson from this experience."
Hilton's probation will end in March 2009, as long as she keeps her driver's license current and doesn't break the law.
♥ I love Paris Hilton and reading this article instead of another short story in Chicken Soup was a lot easier for me to write about and reflect on.
Title: True Love
The story I read today, was based on the topic of true love. Moses Mendelssohn, grandfather of famously known German compose, was far beyond good looking. As he came upon a day where he went to visit a merchant in Hamburg. The merchant had a lovely daughter by the name of Frumtje. To Moses it was love at first sight, like something destiny had brought forward to him. But that beautiful young lady hesitated to look at poor Moses, who was deeply in love with her. As the day came where Moses to leave back home, he took the last chance to speak to her. He went into her room and as he walked in, he went to stand besides her. As he stood there trying to come up with something to say so that Frumtje was conversation back. He spoke to her and said, “ Do you believe marriages are made in heave?” “Yes,” Frumtje answered back, “ And do you?” she asked. “Yes I do,: he said back. Then he began to talk again, “ You see, in heaven at the birth of each boy, the Lord announces which girl he will marry. When I was born, my future bride was pointed out to me. Then the Lord added, ‘But your wife will be humpbacked.’ “Right then and there I called out, ‘Oh lord, a humpbacked woman would be a tragedy. Please, Lord, give me the hump and let her be beautiful.’ ” As he finished what he had to say Frumtje looked up into his eyes, for her heart was stirred into some deep memory. While she was looking into his eyes she reached out her hand to hold his then as time past they united and she committed to be his wife.
