Chicken soup for the soul Risking This story is about taking risks. There were two seeds laying side by side. One wanted to grow. It wanted to go deep into the soil and above the earths crust. The other one was afraid of the being out in the open and that a snail might eat it. So it decided to stay there. Then one morning a yard hen was scratching for food and it uncovered the seed and ate it. The interesting thing is that it decided to wait so that it would not get eaten and didn’t want to get eaten but in the end it still got eaten.
Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul Title: The Wise Woman’s Stone This story is about a wise woman that was traveling through the mountains and found a stone in the stream. That very next day she met another traveler a man who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share some food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone in her bag, he asked the woman to give it to him. And without hesitation she did. Then the traveler left happily with his good fortune, cause that stone was worth enough to give him security his whole life. But a few days later he went back searching for the woman and when he found her he returned the stone. He told her he new how valuable the stone was, but had to give it back to her in hopes that he could get something more precious than the stone and give to him what she held within her to enabled her to give her him the stone back.
This story is a good example of being kind to others, cause this woman was a total stranger to this traveler and she offered him food and a jewel that was worth a lot of money.
Title: Lizards Today I read about housing for pet lizards. Rocks provide a natural looking backdrop for species from desert or rocky areas and will supply locations on which they can bask. You can purchase suitable rocks in pet shops, including those made of Styrofoam or paper mache to reduce weight. Rocks can be piled up to create caves and crevices that your lizards will use as refuges, but be sure they are fixed securely to avoid accidents; silicone cements work well. You can collect your own rocks but be sure they are thoroughly cleaned and dried before you use them. Another thing that you can add to a lizard tank is tree branches. Dead wood is preferable to branches recently cut from living trees some of which may emit poisonous saps.
Today I kept reading the short story of Jessica Hagedorn. She was talking about how she explored San Francisco when she first arrived. She started taking long walks alone and made it a habit. Seeing children as young as ten or eleven on public buses by themselves of with friends was a normal thing for her. In Manila, she said it was a sin for a young girl to go to the movies by herself. She loved America already because of “freedom” as a woman. Her family was located all over the world and she knew they were all protecting her if she decided to go back to her homeland. She knew her Filipino culture has a lot to good things coming to her. I liked this story because she is adapting to America but she is still representing her culture and lifestyle. I agree with the author because even if you move to another country, you still should know what you stand for. I also agreed with this story because the author describes herself to be willing to take in all the change in her life. The most interesting fact was that she knew her genealogy and used it in the text by describing her background.
♥ This morning I read an article on Paris Hilton and her interview with Larry King last night. In her first televised interview with Larry King, Paris Hilton said she would never again drink and drive. She said that although she was an Aquarius and they are known to be social people, being behind bars was a life learning experience. She said she learned that there way more to life than partying and that she is tired of it. She also said she was glad it happened after all because it taught her a lesson that changed her life forever. When asked about the crowd she is with most times- Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, & Britney Spears- she responded, “Everyone makes mistakes.” ♥ I love Paris Hilton and I think it was really hard for her to go through what she went through because of the lifestyle she is used to. Especially when she has the courage to talk about it, says that she really learning from the time in jail.
This morning I read a story called “A French Cat” from the book Chicken Noodle Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul. It was about a lady and her husband who recently traveled through Europe. While on this three week trip, she missed her cat Perry a lot. She kept seeing other cats and that made her miss her cat even more. They went high in the mountains and they saw a lady with a cat. The lady was talking to the cat in French. She seen the other admiring her cat so she let her hold it. The lady was very happy and appreciated the other ladies kindness. I didn’t like this story because I hate cats. I did think it was sweet of the other lady to let her hold the cat. I thought the most interesting fact was that the cat was calm and let the lady hold it. I thought the cat would've scratched her or something.

This story is about how a family was living together, but the father walks out on the family in the middle of the night out of no where. The struggle between the mother and her two children grew long, they moved from house to house, and eventually lived with the grandparents. Kyle and Karen were the children, they finally attended high school, and the mother decided that they should beable to finish their school years at one place. Kyle grew up to be a handsome young man and very athletic. He was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year. He made the most tackles. When life was good, Kyle wrote a poem about his life with his friend. But inside, Kyle was scared for life. He always felt that something bad was going to happen to him when things got good, and he would tell his mother that. His mother would get scared and tell him not to talk like that. He didn't tell anyone, but he had a letter written to himself about how he is scared of what is going to happen, how he doesn't want to lose his friends, he doesn't want everyone to go their seperate ways and wished everything will be okay. He is scared to lose anyone. One day he goes to a party, and gets in the back seat of a car of a young man he barely knew. They were all drinking and got into a fatel accident. The doctors did everything they could to help Kyle, but he died after being thrown out of the car. The school held an assemly for Kyle his team mates were crying, everyone loved Kyle so much he was a great person to know. The school held the memorial assemly on Karens B-Day. They handed her his Jersey, Cap, and Gown. Which he would have worn for his graduation. The yearbook was dedicated to Kyle also, and a Yearbook was made for Kyle, which everyone signed and was given to the family. This story touched me. Its crazy how he knew something would happen to him, but yet he would be so sure that nothing would happen to him, and he still does things that could put him in danger. You can never be sure that nothing bad will happen to you. Everything is unexpectedly.

A book of short stories
