- Chicken soup for the teenage soul
- My first kiss and them some
- This girl named Mary Jane was very shy. She started going out with a guy they had been going out for like six months and practically did nothing. They just saw movies and watched T.V. Both of them wanted to kiss each other so bad but none of them had the courage. Then one day he tried to kiss her but she blocked him then he tried to kiss her again and again she blocked him. Then finally when he was leaving they were at the door. She asked him if he was going to kiss her and he said he was and when he was about to she smiled and he kissed her teeth. Then when she went to college she stopped being so shy. She saw him at a bar and went up to him and kissed him. After they finished he looked at her and got the girl next to her and said “ Mary Jane meet my wife.”
- I think this story is very funny because even though they both wanted to kiss so bad none of them had the courage. And after she got the courage and kissed him she found out he already married.
- An interesting thing I found out about this is that its better to do some thing now than later. Because later you might not have the chance.

Chicken Soup for the Soul
Title: I Like Myself Now
This Morning I read a little story from Chicken Soup for the Soul called I like myself now. Its basically about a teacher that is talking about her strongest subject was mathematics. And she a teacher but its not math. One day a student of her made her understand that you have more answers when you don’t try to be an expert. She asked him why he thought he was doing much better than last year. And he gave a meaning to my whole new orientation he replied “its because I like myself when I’m with you.”
Once you see a child’s self image begin to improve, you will see significant gains in achievement areas, but even more important, you will see a child who is beginning to enjoy life more.

“Race” by Bart Schneider
A book of short stories

I continued reading the short story of Jessica Hagedorn. In this part of the story she is talking about her family. Her maternal grandmother was a writer and a political cartoonist and teacher. Her family was not surprised when at age eight Jessica decided that writing and theater were her life’s work. She said in the school she attended, the classes were taught in English and Tagalog was taught as a foreign language. She wondered why that wasn’t the other way around. She spent her adolescent years in California, and studied Theater Arts in San Francisco. She was fourteen when she arrived and she knew that it alright to explore the city by herself.
I like this story because it shows that she had no fear in the open world in San Francisco. I agreed with the part where she was confused why her school in the Philippines taught Tagalog as a foreign language. In fact, I also like the part where she said she learned art from her family, passed down by her mother and grandmother.

Today I read a story called ”Always Return Your Phone Calls” from the book Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. It was about two girls that were best friends, Angela and Charlotte. Charlotte was very depressed and Angela was the only friend who had stuck by her. Charlotte had fought with her mother and her sister but Angela had been worried about the sad poems Charlotte was writing. Soon Angela had to move. Her first day in her new neighborhood Angela was playing outside with her new friends. She thought about Charlotte. When she got home her mom told her Charlotte had called. Angela returned Charlottes call but no one answered. About a half an hour later Angela got a phone call from Charlotte. She told her when she had returned her call that she was in her basement with a gun to her head, but when she heard Angela’s voice on the answering machine and realized someone did love her. She said she was going to get help because she loved her too. Angela went right over to Charlottes house and they cried together. I liked this story because it shows that just being there for someone could mean so much. I think if you need help like that it’s easier to know you have someone that cares. The most interesting fact I thought was that she had a gun to her head. I really wasn’t expecting that in the story.

♥ This morning I read a book on East Asia. Hundreds of years ago, the city of Angkor was the capital of the great Khmer kingdom. Many of the ancient city’s structures are still standing. The structures provide scientists & historians with information about the past. Thousands of visitors pour into the area every year to visit this ancient city. But Angkor’s sculptures and buildings are being ruined by the weather, growing vegetation, robbers, and war. In the 1990s, people from around the world stepped in to help protect the city’s remains. The ruins cover more than 150 square miles in northwestern Cambodia. Dense forest has hidden some parts of the site. But since 1860, scientists have uncovered the remains of more than 100 temples, or structures built for religious reasons.
Woah. That was really boring, and I do not ever want to go visit East Asia. There was nothing interesting about that except for the city being in risk of disappearing with the climate.

thursday blog}
Today I read about education of the African Americans. Every family member was needed to work on the farm at busy times of the year, even the youngest. Yet Africans Americans wanted their children to have their education. Education was their only way of a better life for them selves. The separate schools for African Americans were poor in every way. School buildings were old and poorly equipped. The few text books that they had were very old and out of date. The thing that made it harder for them is that their classes were large.
I think that they had it very hard in those days. They also were very poor people and they would work their hardest just to put food on the table. Also I think that they were very hard working people.
Something I learned is that they would rather have their sons go to school, because they thought that they had a better chance.

Title: Lizards
Today I read about life support systems for lizards. Temperature plays a big role when taking care of a lizard. Being ectothermic, lizards are unable to maintain their body temperatures at relatively constant level without the assistance of an external heat source. In nature the natural heat sources mainly come directly or indirectly from the sun. By the process of thermoregulation, lizards maintain an optimum body temp by basking directly in the sun and/or by coming into contact with sun-warmed surfaces. Unless we keep our lizards in open-air enclosures, it is usually quite impossible to use natural sunlight as a source of heat. Sunlight through the glass of a terrarium will be magnified, and the terrarium will overheat dramatically in a short space of time.

Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul.
"My Story"

This story is about a girl explaining how people say suicide is something they would never do, but next thing you knoow, some of them are thinking of it. This particular girl said she would never try to kill herself, until one day she noticed all the problems in her life. All her friends were leaving her because they were realizing what kind of crowd they wanted to be in, and she her problems were too much for them. Her boyfriend left her also saying that it was becoming too hard for him to love her, she was thinking why it was hard for anyone to love her. When she tried talking to someone she thought she could turn to, they just said they couldn't help her and hung up. Even if she was crying her heart out saying it hjurt too much, and she needed to have someone to talk to, they still hung up. She went to her mothers bathroom and took a bottle of tylenol PMs, some tranquilizers, and a couple of pain pills. She described about the feeling of knowing that you're dying and being so scared that you're begging for life. She didn't die, but she still gets sick of what she did to herself. She is now going to therepy with her parents who need to learn how to be better parents, and this young girl is learning how to be more confident with herself and trust and love herself. I'm happy she is living a better life now. It's sad how she had to go through so much to figure this out. Many people who are suicidal think about all the bad things in life and never use the positive things as something to live for. They get hurt easily and take in all the pain not realizing the happiness they have in their life. It's like being spoiled crying for what you want when u don't get something. They expect their lives to be the way they want it to be and do things to themself when they cannot get it and it's very sad. I learned that you have to show special care to those in need and take people seriously when they come to you crying.
