Title: Thousands audition for 'American Idol,' but few proceed to the next round.
10 Sentence Summary: On July 31st about 12,000 people auditioned for next season’s “American Idol”. This happened at Qualcomm Stadium. About 95% of the 12,000 left disappointed. A lot of people that left disappointed said that they were going to try again whether it was at other auditions this year or in future seasons. This weekend, auditions will be in Dallas, and after that Omaha, Neb., Atlanta, Miami, Charleston, S.C., and Philadelphia.. The contestants were told that they had to be at Qualcomm stadium by 5 am but a lot of them started lining up hours earlier. Mayor Jerry Sanders was on hand to cut a ceremonial ribbon. Contestants were told they if you have any kind of beverage that doesn’t say Coke, you would need to put it under your seat. The auditions finally began around 9:45a.m.A lot of contestants were disappointed that they didn’t get accepted but a girl named Villalva who is 16 said she might go to Dallas for the next audition but if that didn’t work out she said there was always next year because she was still young and she knows she’ll have more chances.
3 Sentence Reflection: I think that it’s exciting for someone to go to an “American Idol” audition because they are confident that they are going to the next level. I also think that it’s funny when people go to auditions thinking that they have talent when everybody knows that they don’t. It takes a lot of confidence to stand up in front of strangers and sing for them for free, especially when you have no talent..

So if parents can set a good example, they can have a fighting chance at countering the 30 billion dollars a year the food industry is spending to sell a chubby lifestyle to you and your kids. One is seven American kids are overweight or obese, a jump of 50% in the past 20 years. Tha's also nine million Whopper Jr.'s spilling out of their buns. At the rate we're going, by 2011 the fat kids on the playground will be banding together and making fun of the few remaining skinny ones. Even slim kids are at risk of heart disease and cancer. Exercise habits and dietary smarts are the way to avoid these problems. ▫ The most interesting fact I learned in this article is that kids consume 1,900 calories a day, even though they only need 800 - 1,300. This morning the article that I chose to read this morning is titled artificial disc give back patients real relief .this article was about a woman named toress Ortiz a women with two children ages 5,and 11. one day she was taking a drive and out of the blue a man ran a red light speeding and hit her car. This man hit her car so hard he flipped her car causing her to hit another car . Toress Ortiz was never the same women she once was this accident changed her life. this accident damaged a disk in her spine for the next 19 months Ortiz was always in pain. Her life became a constant round of doctor visits. She was always taking pills taking x-rays and having to go to therapy. Lots of thing became impossible for her to do such as playing with her children skating or anything physical . Ortiz came across an option she found out that there was a study on a revolutionary device a implant that replaces the damaged disk. She finally decide that she would get the surgery. After her surgery she felt so much better that she was thinking about hitting the slopes with her children. Thought that it was a good thing that she decide to get the surgery. I think that the guy that caused this will serve his sentence . I feel that her life will fall back into place.

This morning I read an article titled Spring Valley man’s body found near care facility. Late Monday, the body of a 22 year-old man was found behind a convalescent center in the Birdland area. Authorities said the man’s injuries were suspicious and the death is being investigated. The victim has been identified as Justin Hernandez from Spring Valley. Autopsy results were not available, the cause of death was uncertain, but marks were found on his body. The body was in bushes next to a service road by Frost Street close to Sharp Memorial Hospital.
This Morning i had read about the Minn. bridge that collapse and it had atleast killed 7 people. They don't know what had caused the bridge to collapse. They have suspicions that it could be a terrist attack. They are not sure though. The tradgedy had thrown many people into the Mississippi River that the bridge had went over. Cars had fell all 60 feet into the water. The survivors had really bad injuries. They say that atleast one person had drowned. Kids were scared, and many parents were worried. There was a school bus that was on the bridge at the time coming back from a field trip kids were calling from their cell phones, calling their parents telling them what was happenening and many parents were scared for their childrens lives.
I think that this article was sad. Many people lost their lives that day. I really didnt enjoy reading it, but it was interesting. Because i like to know what going on, especially outside of california<3
Today I have read an article called “Meet Aerin”. This is a story about an executive director of creative marketing. Her name is Aerin Lauder, the granddaughter of founder Estee is the member of the third Lauder generation to work in the family business. She works in Estee Lauder in USA and Canada. Part of her job is spotting and staying ahead of the trends. Her out of the office life involves her young son. She was the first twenty something to cochair NYC’s biggest, hippest fashion event, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute gala. She also manages to go skiing, rollerblading and playing tennis. Her first fragrance came form her childhood memory. The fragrant flowers at her family’s beach house. It is not surprising that Aerin attributes her passion for fragrance to her grandmother. I think that this story is interesting. How she has the same passion as her grandmother. That shows how much your family members influence your life.
