* Pakistani commander killed at mosque
I read about Pakistani troops were outside the Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque, in Islamabad, Pakistan. Muzazamil Shahm, whose 17-year-old son is in the Red Mosque, prayed with his family during a heavy exchange of fire between militants and soldiers. Troops have been trying to blast holes in the walls in the hopes that women and children inside will escape, but have held back from an all-out assault. “ Those who are inside Lal Masjid (the Red Mosque) should surrender; otherwise, they get killed, Musharraf told reporters in his first comments on the standoff. Authorities were investigating whether shots fired at Musharraf’s plane as it took off Friday from a nearby military base were an attempt on his life. More than 1,200 people, mainly students from the mosque’s two Islamic schools, have fled the complex.

Stolen SUV located with boy in car seat.

In San Rafaela 5 year-old boy was in the back seat of his mothers SUV, who apparently left the car keys in the ignition so she could get out of the car to pick up her other child from school. Her SUV was stolen and found 8 blocks away from the school, an hour away from when it was stolen on friday.

I believe the mother of the child is not responsible of watching her children at all. The child that was in school was obviously in a safe place where nothing could happen to her, there should never be a reason to leave your younger child in the back seat of the car. I think that leaving to get a child in school, where he or she is safe, and leaving another child in a car, which is not safe at all, is very irrisponsible. The SUV was stolen, there could have been worse conditions where the SUV could have been hit. Or her 5 year old could have been kidnapped. The mother of these children should be very ashamed of herself and she will be lucky enough to be able to keep her children, and not be taken away from CPS.

Today I read the horoscopes again for our morning blog. In it, it said that a weight is lifted from my chest as saturn gives me a break from something that has been troubling me. And it also says that suddenly financial stress and familial pressure ease up considerably.
This horoscope has got me really confused because I havent gotten a break from anything. Also my financial and family problems are just beginning. So I don’t think that this is not correct.
One thing that I learned is that the horoscope is not always correct and that I shouldn’t rely on it too much.

WORLD WAR II HERO, SUB WARFARE PIONEER

Rear Adm. Eugene Fluckey died June 28 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Maryland. He was a great hero of WWII who was awarded the Medal of Honor and four Navy Crosses for attacks on Japanese shipping. Adm. Fluckey, who was born and raised in Washington, was 93 and had Alzheimer’s disease. He was a pioneer of submarine warfare among his days. One time, he picked eight commandos from his crew and paddled out to Japanese soil under railroad ties and planted a 55 lb. bomb. A 16 car troop train blew up when pressure sensitive charge went off. This was the only time in WWII that U.S. troop set foot on Japanese soil. His first wife, Majorie, died in August 1979 after 42 years of marriage. I think this is a really loved person that died. He was well known for what he did and I think he should be remembered for his actions. I agree with this man’s life because everybody has to go through obstacles when experience life. In fact, I think this man’s history will live on for a long time.

Today I read an article in the Union Tribute, called Start with Yourself. That was based on learning to love yourself. The words from the poem, where words that were written on an Anglican Bishop tomb, from the Crypts of Westminster Abbey. It talked something about how he when he was young, he had a dream that he wanted to change the world. And as he would past his years growing older he discovered that the world would not change. So instead, he decided that he only wanted to change his country. But later as he realized, he noticed too, that its was something too incapable to do. But as one of the last desperate attempts , he settled to only change his family. But once he was already in his deathbed, he finally came to a conclusion. If only he would of started out by changing himself first. Then his family would see that he was trying to accomplish in becoming a better person. And then maybe his family would be inspired and then it would have been easier to change them. One thing I liked about this story was that, this person seemed to have a great heart. And from this poem it seems to me that he wanted something better for his people. One thing I learned was that before you decide on making any changes, you have to start out with yourself, and if you want to help out others you need to help out yourself first as well.

Today I have read a story called “What’s Wrong”. This story is about a teacher, her name was Mary. She went to teach at a Navajo Indian Reservation school. Every day she would ask at least five students to compete math problems on the board. The task was very simple. But every day the children refused to do the problems. She was thinking that maybe the students didn’t know how to solve this problems, but later found out that was not the problem. She thought maybe she didn’t know how to teach and that is why they were refusing to do their work. One day she asked one of the students why they wouldn’t do their work. The student said that they understood that some of the other students didn’t know how to do the work and they didn’t want to put them down by embarrassing them in front of everyone. Then the teacher realized that they were helping each other out so their feelings wouldn’t be hurt. The students appreciated each other so that is why they wouldn’t want to hurt each other. One she had learned this and understood them she changed her way of teaching. She would have them individually do their work and she would check it. They all wanted to learn but not at someone else's expense. I think that this story is so sweet and shows how much those children cared about each other. I think that it was a good idea because people do embarrass each other. I think that those children were raised very good.
