Today I read about mustard. That not all spices came from Asia. Mustard plants were first grown in Mediterranean countries. The way mustard got its name by the Romans used to mix mustard seeds with grape juice, or must. Also the ard in mustard comes from the Latin word ardere which means to burn. There is two types of mustard brown and white. Brown mustard seeds have strong taste. Then white mustard seeds have milder taste to it.
I think that mustard is really interesting spice. I never knew that their was 3 types of mustard. I was thinking that they should make a new mustard.
I learned that there is to types of mustard.
♥ This morning I read an article on the Spice Girls in CNN Entertainment News. The Spice Girls from the 1990’s are reunited for one last goodbye concert. Their website said that they would back for their last world tour, with 11 stops. The five-member band is the latest in a long line of pop acts to bury past differences and reform, hoping for success where many others have failed. The Spice Girls boasted album sales of 55 million during their brief career, and hits including "Wannabe" and "Say You'll Be There" topped charts across the globe. But the success was short lived, with Geri "Ginger" Halliwell leaving in 1998, four years after The Spice Girls was created, and the remaining band members going their separate ways after releasing the album "Forever" in 2000. All now in their 30s, the singers embarked on solo careers and rumors that they may one day reform have circulated for years. The Spice Girls, who burst on to the music scene with "girl power" and attitude in the 1990s, have reunited for a world tour!!
♥ I love the Spice Girls, or I used to. But I’m glad that they decided to do one last concert and I plan to go to the concert in Los Angeles. <3
“Race” by Bart Schneider
A book of short stories
Today I focused on reading more of this story. Last time, I was reading until she got into detail about life as being a Filipino. She defined it to be “elegant chaos” when she put her style into working. She recalled having a conversation with actress Ching Valdes/Aran. “It took coming to America to actively Philippinize me.” She said that was a sentiment many of people in her situation share. She also said she “found” her writing self in the late 60s, early 70s when she was publishing as a poet. She noticed this because she was always interested in writing fiction. I agree with the author because you have to go through life not knowing what it is you want to do until you experience that changing experience. I am 17 and I still have not a clue what I want my profession to be. I also like that she is taking in all the positive things from her peers and family and using it to her advantage with poetry.
This morning I read story called “Toto’s Last Christmas” from the book Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul. It was about a veterinarian who took an old, sick cat to her house for Christmas Eve. Her own cats weren’t to friendly at first. She had promised the owner that the cat would pass comfortably. The vet and her husband took good care of the cat, but he passed during the night. Her cats crawled in the basket with Toto and cuddled with him. I thought this story was really sad. I felt really bad for the old sick cat. Even though I hate cats, I liked this story, it was sad but sweet at the same time. I thought the most interesting was that her cats got in the basket with the other cat.

"Egg Lessons"
This story is about a girl named Kim and her boyfriend Robby. They had been together for a year. There was one day when Kim wasn't invited to Nancy's party, but Kim and Robby agreed to meet up at 10:30 that night. 11:00 came by and Kim started feeling sick, worried that something bad might have happened. On sunday morning, Robby called her and said that they need to talk, and asked if he could come over. She wanted to say no, but the words didn't come out, instead she said "Sure." Robby came over and said that he hooked up with Sue Roth that night and that they are now together. Kim told him to leave, and all she could do was cry. She tried everything to make hre happy, eating, movies, music. Nothing worked. The only thing she could think about now, was getting revenge. She gathered her friends together and started egging Sue's house. They found an open vent and dumped the rest of the eggs in there also. The worst part about it was, Sue and her family were going to be out of town for the nest three days. Drama began and rumor says that Kim egged the house. Kim's mother was complaining about the phone ringingin all day about how Kim egged Sue's house for taking her boyfriend. Kim lies about egging the house and her mother knows it. Kim decides to give all her baby sitting money to Sue's mother to repay for the damages she caused. Kim's mother told her that revenge isn't the best idea, and that she knows how it feels because as a teenager, her boyfriend left her for her own sister. And that it is better to move on

Marriage Advice for 1886
This short story is basic advice for any marriage. It tells you to let your love be stronger than your hate and anger, Learn the wisdom of compromise, for it is better to bend than break. It tells you believe the best than the worst. And remember that a true friendship is the basis for any lasting relationship. It basically explains that your friends are their friends.
This Story interested me because this advice has been handed down for many generations and it asks us to hand down this advice to our children and our children’s children.

The story I read tyoday was about a little boy who saw a sign that read for sale puppies. So he went into the pet store and spoke to the store owner and asked to see the puppies. As the puppies came out. There was one puppy who limped behind the others. The boy had asked the reason why the dog was limping, and the owner explained to him that the pupp had no hip socket, and would cause him to limp. The kid told the owner that he wanted to buy the pup. But the owner told him that he wasn’t worth. The boy explained that even though the dog had a limp he was still worth as much as the other dogs. One thing I liked about this story is that the boy was like others who judge things who aren’t normal and look at them in a different way. What I learned was that it don’t matter if your not “normal” like people may say because no one is perfect and you and others should accept yourself for who you are.
Chicken Soup for the Teenage soul
Today I have read a story called “What’s Wrong”. This story is about a teacher, her name was Mary. She went to teach at a Navajo Indian Reservation school. Every day she would ask at least five students to compete math problems on the board. The task was very simple. But every day the children refused to do the problems. She was thinking that maybe the students didn’t know how to solve this problems, but later found out that was not the problem. She thought maybe she didn’t know how to teach and that is why they were refusing to do their work. One day she asked one of the students why they wouldn’t do their work. The student said that they understood that some of the other students didn’t know how to do the work and they didn’t want to put them down by embarrassing them in front of everyone. Then the teacher realized that they were helping each other out so their feelings wouldn’t be hurt. The students appreciated each other so that is why they wouldn’t want to hurt each other. One she had learned this and understood them she changed her way of teaching. She would have them individually do their work and she would check it. They all wanted to learn but not at someone else's expense. I think that this story is so sweet and shows how much those children cared about each other. I think that it was a good idea because people do embarrass each other. I think that those children were raised very good.
In today’s read I read about apparently Elvis. learned new facts that I had no Idea so many things pertained to Elvis. In this read I learned that Elvis’ mom has been dead for at three years. Now at age 26 Elvis has already started with a weight problem. Is apparently hassled or visited a lot by a Doctor and is having memory problems forgetting the little stuff. The doctor has something to do with radiology and appears to be very concerned with Elvis. So far in the Book a lot of problems are presented and knowing that Elvis will die at the end the problems may not be resolved. The book does not mention Elvis directly because it is told by third person following the first person which is weird.
