Good Morning my lovely brilliant students,
We are in 46week Taiwan this week!! Reminder, only 1 powerpoint each week!
SO, On Friday I explained to most of the class that I will be your teacher for English, History, Math and science. Because many of you did not receive credit last quarter for math and science, Silva and I thought it would be best to not switch during the summer program teach all core subjects!! This way we can go on fieldtrips and community service without losing out on switching!! YAH!!
I just put in an order for 11 and 12 English books, math books and I am trying to get more science books, so please be patient with this class changing schedule!! It may take a week to get everything going smoothly!
School also starts at 7:45 am; however I do give you a 10 minute grace period to walk through the door, but you must make an effort to get to school on time!! or have your parent call in for you!! This is important, it shows character and responsibility!! Being punctual is very important in the outside world!! On that note, school gets out at 2:30, but if you are continuously tardy you will make up that time after school!!
**** Write a little note on your thoughts about the new class schedule and hours. What can we do to stop tardiness and improve it?

Title: Counting on Chichen Itza.
Sentences:
Chichen Itza is located in Mexico along the Yucatan Peninsula. It is one of the new Seven Wonders. In Mexico it is one of the most popular pyramids and it draws hundreds of thousands of new visitors each year. More than 90 million people voted Chichen Itza as the new Seven Wonders. The winners will be revealed on July 7, 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal and the people featuring this big even are actress Jennifer Lopez and astronaut Neil Armstrong. There are about 20 sites that are competing to be the new “Seven Wonders”. Mexico has turned the competition into a quest for international attention. Mexican officials said that having one of the Seven Wonders of the World would attract hundreds of thousands of new visitors each year, more than there are already. A lady named Ivonne Ortega launched a campaign to help Chichen Itza win. Ortega is the governor of the Yucatan state, along with being one of the youngest governors and only the 4th woman in Mexican history to be a governor. I think that this is a very interesting article because they are giving countries that are living in poverty a chance to shine.
Sentence Reflection:
I have been to Yucatan before, and I have visited the Chichen Itza pyramid, which is very nice and big, I was there on a vacation in Cancun, Mexico.
* The SD Union Tribune: Sports
* Suit: Cheerleader told to ‘make refs happy’
* This morning I read an article on the NBA under the Sports section of the Union Tribune. The former Knicks New York basketball team executive is suing coach Isiah Thomas. He is suing him for sexual harassment because he urged a cheerleader to flirt with referees. The cheerleaders friend testified, “What she told me was that Isiah asked her to go into the referee’s locker room and make them happy.” The same woman, Browne Sanders, admitted to consensual drunken sex with Marbury after a night at a “gentlemen’s club” and said that she did not believe that she could of said no because of who Marbury was. The woman said that a few days later he text messaged her saying, “I want some more of that.” Sanders said her decision to inform official led to her being fired. Browne Sanders filed the lawsuit last year, claiming she was fired for telling the truth. She has also accused Thomas, 44year old former Northwestern basketball star, of telling her that he was in love with her and he was very attracted to her, then attempting to kiss her. Madison Square Garden said she was fired because she “failed to fulfill professional responsibilities.” In seeking a dismissal of the lawsuit, Thomas said Browne Sanders brought the action to harm him and secure a financial payout from him and Madison Square Garden.
*Schedule & Switching*
I hope it works and that we get make up all the credits we need. As long as we’re getting the classes we need, the “switching” doesn’t matter.

CATCHING THE RIGHT PLANE
New Boeing 787 Dreamliner uses Goodrich pods
I was reading in the paper today and came across this article about a new upcoming jetliner. There was to be a ceremony last Sunday by employees in Chula Vista waiting for the outcome via satellite footage over Everett, Washington. The contract for this mass 634 plane construction was awarded by Boeing in 2004. Boeing says if this introduction works, the aircraft maker expects this jetliner to be as common used as the 747. Boeing also says its Dreamliner will carry 210 to 330 passengers depending on the seat configuration. It was also stated said that if it wasn’t for that contract, this would have never happened. The 787 was a breakthrough in advanced aircraft engineering and design. It was said that Boeing has received 634 orders from 45 customers. This means that this program could continue for decades.
I think this whole idea is a good on when it comes to profits all around the world.
In The Union Tribune there was an article entitled Growing over Bush authority. The article covered what was event that transpired yesterday (Friday, July 6,2007). Congress and Bush are at odds with one another as Congress tries Congressional Investigation on the Bush administration. Bush responded by saying that they should spend more time on solving domestic problems. This is not the first time that current democratic Congress has sought after bush sense they were put into power. So far they have turned over 200,000 pages of documents, they have launches 300 investigations, 350 request for documents and interviews, 600 oversight hearings sense January. Democrat say that these number are faulty but did not offer figures of their own.
This must be expected to some extent if you have to conflicting views thing come to a stand still. Congress is doing what it was built to do to keep the powers in balance.
Today I read an article in the Union Tribute, called Start with Yourself. That was based on learning to love yourself. The words from the poem, where words that were written on an Anglican Bishop tomb, from the Crypts of Westminster Abbey. It talked something about how he when he was young, he had a dream that he wanted to change the world. And as he would past his years growing older he discovered that the world would not change. So instead, he decided that he only wanted to change his country. But later as he realized, he noticed too, that its was something too incapable to do. But as one of the last desperate attempts , he settled to only change his family. But once he was already in his deathbed, he finally came to a conclusion. If only he would of started out by changing himself first. Then his family would see that he was trying to accomplish in becoming a better person. And then maybe his family would be inspired and then it would have been easier to change them. One thing I liked about this story was that, this person seemed to have a great heart. And from this poem it seems to me that he wanted something better for his people. One thing I learned was that before you decide on making any changes, you have to start out with yourself, and if you want to help out others you need to help out yourself first as well.
I DONT LIKE THE NEW SCHDULE THERES NO USE!!! ITS THE SAME THING AS BEFORE THE SKOLLL IS JSUT CHEATING US STUDENTS! I THINK THIS IS REALLY RETATRDEED AND STUPID
This morning I read an article about the San Diego County Fair. The article was titled A record 1,265,997 attended county fair. The piece explained that it took seven to eight days to completely take down the flower show, which is now back to its natural state: a parking lot. It takes one day to take apart the wood exhibit. The fair lasts 22 days and is the sixth largest in the country. This year 1,265,997 attended. Last year 1, 250,320 attended. The most interesting fact I thought was that, that many people attended the fair.
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul.
This story I read today is called “Forever Changed”. This is a story of a woman who is very happy with her life. She cherishes everything she has and her family too. One time she went to Monterrey Mexico with a youth Group. She sat down on that bus for two days. She had hear that the place was ugly and there was a lot of bugs. They told her that everything was dirty and their streets were really dangerous. The first night she arrived there she couldn’t sleep. Each morning they had to wake up and take the bus for an hour and a half to get to the orphanage. On her way over there she would always think about how little she had slept and how dirty and hot it was in the bus. As soon as she could see the doors to the orphanage all of those thoughts melted away. All she could think of was those children. She would see the children run up to the gate with a smile on their faces and kiss them and hug them. They looked happy to be there. They would not fight over the toys because they wanted to share and wanted everyone to enjoy them. She met a little girl named Erica. She had a scar beneath her nose. Every day they arrived at the Orphanage, Erica would run up to her and kiss her. On the last day the kids were singing songs and then Erica decided to tell all of them her story of why she was there. She said that she was very happy to be there. She said that when she was at her house her parents would beat her and that is why she was very happy to be there. When Erica was done the woman ran up to her and told her how brave she was . She hold Erica for fifteen minutes before she left. When the woman came home she looked at her room. She looked at all her clothes. She remembered Erica’s closet with only two shirts. Erica tried to give the women her stuffed animal before she left so she could say she had a friend. But the woman didn’t receive it she said she would be her friend regardless. Erica said she didn’t need it she already had two. I really like this story. I think that it is great how Erica cherishes many things and is happy with so little. Many people including myself take things for granted because we have them all the time. I think people should cherish everything they have a lot more.
