♥ San Diego Union Tribune: Arts ♥ Love Fest ♥ The article I chose this morning was on La Mesa’s Briana Gomez and Tijuana’s David Choy who were born 23 years after 1967’s Summer of Love rocked out in San Francisco and much of the nation. Both the seventeen year olds are familiar with that legendary summer forty years ago. It was a summer when hippies gathered to pursue a happy dream of free sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll. They both also feel the legacy, at least indirectly, of a now-graying generation. David believes it was a time when people were expressing their creativity. He believes that hippies were not dirty druggies but that they were individuals who liked to express themselves and were more aware of their environment. ♥ This ‘Love Fest’ article was quite out of the ordinary and anything but boring. The most interesting thing I read was about how hippies pursued happy free sex, drugs, and rock `n roll. (awkward.)
The San Diego union tribune Shots in the dark The article that I read today is about a man named Chris Drake. He and his wife own a backcountry general store. The store was sunshine summit. He says that he doesn’t feel comfortable in the store without a pistol within easy reach. Since the store has been robbed four times since it opened in 2001. and I think he was right because on march 5th he shot two burglars. The gun he used was a smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver. But he had never shot it at a human being until that day I think that the man is correct and I would do the same thing if I operated a general store. One thing that I found out is that smith & wesson is a company that make firearms
Love at Heart Even though some people may seem not too lovey-dovey, everyone needs to be loved and love others. For some people it may be hard to admit that they do love. Even though they really do love someone but never really let them know. Today I read a story based on a couple, the women named Connie suffered from cancer. Connie was in her final stages of caner but she always seemed so cheerful. Her husband Bill was always there to support her and by her side. Although they seemed to be very happy. There was one thing that bothered Connie, her husband wasn’t the type to say, “ I love you”. Although he did love her he was never really the love type. There was a volunteer at the hospital who would go and help Ms. Connie. She would speak to him about what concerned her. She told him about her and her husband. And how she would do anything for him just to say those 3 words to her. So before anything he spoke to Bill about what his wife had told her. He told Bill to think about it. So bill did, he spoke too his wife. Later as a day past he saw Bill in the hall way looking down. He knew that Connie had past away already. He went to talk to Bill and as he spoke he said that he was happy to tell his wife that he loved her before she pasted away. And in her room there was a besides her was a huge valentines card, that read “To my wonderful wife, I Love You”. What I learned about this story was that everyone needs some love in their life, even though they might not show it.
This morning I read an article titled Robbery Attempt Leaves Man Dead, Woman Injured. On Saturday a robbery turned deadly near a North Park bar, where a man was killed and a woman was hospitalized. The pair had just left the Air Conditioned Lounge, a bar on 30th near Adams Avenue. A gunman advanced toward them at their car and ordered money from the couple. The attacker shot both victims, then ran down an alley on 30th street. Police found the man and woman lying near their car. The gunman was described as a black male in his twenties, about 5 feet seven inches tall, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
SH0TS iN THE dARk. ♥ This morning I had read about a shooting that had occurred in Santa Ysabel on March 6 of 2007. There was a burglary that happened in some mans store. And the man and his wife who own the store live behind the store. The store is about 20 miles from any police station so the man likes to carry a gun on him. He feels that if he doesn’t carry some type of weapon on him he will feel vulnerable to people. He wouldn’t have any type of protection for him and his wife. On march 6th there was a burglary that had occurred. The wife had heard the alarms go off, so she woke her husband up and they both got in their car and went to go see what was wrong. As they saw what was happening he chased them. And as soon as they felt like they were armed. The man had started to fire his gun feeling threatened by the thieves. The man that owns the store has never fired a gun before, or pointed it to a person. And he felt very overwhelmed afterwards. There were minor injuries, when surgery had to take place. Charges were pressed.

I feel that valintino still has lots more to come
The article that I chose to read this morning was titled the luck of the sevens. it was about the luck that was going down at Viejas casino. The day was 7-07-07 A very lucky day for a family of seven that traveled there for a birthday. There were even many sighs of luck on this day. Such as the date , they were going 70mph on the freeway. Nancy schuh won $777.10 on a jackpot machine that night. She had brought $77.77 to spend that night. she wasn’t the only person with a green thumb that nigh Annie krapf and her husband dean were playing the slots as well and there were wins after wins for this lucky couple. There was 139 wedding preformed that night tell me if that was not a luck night. I thought that that that had to be a very luck day for many people. I think that I really something how they performed 139 wedding ceremonies in one night. I feel that every one had the green thumb that night.
Los Angeles archdiocese will settle abuse lawsuit. The Archdiocese will pay around 660 million dollars to more than 500 victims of child sexual abuse by clergy. Sources familiar with the pending said that victims would receive on average, 1.2 million to 1.3 million. A nationals director of survivors network said that those abused by priests praised the victims who came forward in LA in cases that date back decades. No amount of money can restore hundreds of stolen childhoods. They are struggling because they are talking about how 150 claim cannot be satisfied without having to close any schools, churches and without affecting the religious mission. Bishop Brom seems to want to devalue the harm that was done to people in San Diego. A lady said “Money doesn’t fix us, its not like its all of a sudden eliminated form our lives. I think that this story is very sad because you cant even trust a priest now. You are supposed to be safe in church and now you see more cases of priests abusing children. I mean they are supposed to be close to God, don’t they see how wrong what they are doing is.
