-the San Diego Union Tribune
-The article that I read today was about the high school exit exam. It says that nine out of ten high school seniors in San Diego County have passed the state required high school exit exam. That still means that more than 3000 students in the class of 2008 are at risk of not graduating. Aware of the high stakes school districts are focusing additional attention on students who are struggling to pass the english and math portions of the test which became a graduation requirement last year. About 29000 students statewide from the graduating class of 2007 have yet to pass the exam. And more than 55000 high school seniors from the class of 2008 are in danger of not earning diplomas.
-I think that this article is pretty interesting. I don’t understand how people could not pass the exam. I passed it in the tenth grade it was really easy for me.
-One thing that I learned is that more than 55000 high school seniors from the class of 2008 are in danger of not earning diplomas.

These stories seem strange but riveting, A heart attack victim recalls floating in the air watching paramedics revive him. A surgical patient remembers hovering watching the doctors operate. The widely reported out-of-body experiences have long been the territory of theology, philosophy and scary movies. Now scientists have turned their attention to the topic. Researchers in Great Britain and Switzerland have figured out ways to confuse the sensory signals the brain receives allowing people to seem to be standing aside and watching themselves. And there not using drugs, legal or otherwise. Using virtual reality goggles, a camera and a stick, scientists have induced out-of-body experiences the sensation of drifting outside of one’s own body. When people gaze at an illusory image of themselves through the goggles and are prodded in just the right way with the stick, they feel as if they have left their bodies. The research reveals that the sense of having a body of being in bodily self.

This morning I read an article titled Water mistake at business complex fixed. The article was about some businesses in Otay Ranch that were receiving recycled water or treated sewage. Two of the seventeen businesses were allowed to reopen yesterday. The businesses were closed since last Friday when officials discovered that the complex was hooked up to recycled water. The results from yesterdays tests showed the recycled water met standards for drinking except the presence of coliform bacteria. It indicates contamination but is not harmful. I think that this is disgusting. If I was working there I would be suing someone because that is so nasty.

*Guarding Against Outlaw Mussels
Private boats have temporarily been banned from Escondido’s Lake Wohlford in an attempt to keep it free of quagga mussels, which are thought to have entered the United States in the 1980s. The tiny shellfish, which have been found at San Vicente Reservoir near Lakeside, can cause costly problems. Billions of dollars have been spent trying to control mussels in the Great Lakes that fill and block water pipes and power plant systems. The interesting part is that officials say the only way to kill the mussels is to dry them out or poison them with chlorine, but they cant chlorinate large bodies of water because it is too toxic. Until this year, the mussels had never been found west of the Continental Divide. The shellfish are not being viewed as a significant threat to the water supply, but if left unchecked, they could become a massive and expensive nuisance♣♣♣

Viejas casino
This article is about viejas casino planning to build a new casino that is worth eight hundred million.
If built this will be the most expensive casino in the state.
The location of the casino will be about thirty miles from down town east of its other casino which has two thousand five hundred slot casino and a outlet mall.
If the casino is built the resort would make viejas the first tribe in california to have two side by side casinos.
The average slot makes about three hundred dollars a day and in a geat location it will be great for the viejas tribe who are really trying to expand.

I think that the money that they spend on this new casino will be worth it .
The casino will be good for a trip or just to go have a good time.

DEATH TOLL RISES TO 26 AS FLOODWATER BEGIN TO RECEDE IN MIDWEST

Water from the worst flood in nearly a century hit Findlay, Ohio began receding yesterday. This allowed some of the more than 1,000 people homeowners who had been displaced go to their homes and look at the wreckage. In one Ohio city, there were more than 700 damaged homes. It hit the upper Midwest parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Funnel clouds were spotted in the suburbs west of Chicago and storms hit Iowa and Minnesota. The body of a high school cross-country runner was discovered from a muddy lake yesterday. He was trying to cross a flooded trail the day before. Divers using sonar equipment discovered his body.
I think this is a very sad story and it has never hit this bad in a long time. This is a natural disaster that couldn’t have been stopped but it also could have been worst. I pray for the people that lost their lives and the ones who haven’t been found.
310,000 customers in northern Illinois were without power last night, including 62,000 in Chicago.

Man pleads guilty in crash that killed college student
There was a terrible accident where a 19 year old college student near the college area was hit by a car, where the car did not stop. The driver of the vehicle was said to be intoxicated and commit a hit and run scene. Eric Joseph Leeman 21, was the driver from the accident. Leeman admitted that he had left from the scene where Whitney Young was hitting. The accident had happened at 3:15 am on November 12, crossing Montezuma Road near Rockford Drive while Whitney was with a group of friends. Leeman pleaded guilty at the San Diego Supreme court. Judge Peter C. Deddeh scheduled a hearing for his sentence. Because of Leeman’s guilty plea Deputy District Attorney Allison Worden dropped remaining charges that where also against Leeman. Stating that there was a possibility that he may have gotten sentenced 15 to life in prison, for conviction of a second-degree murder. Witness who testified also say that they saw a car who had hit Young and continued driving without slowing down or stopping. Others have also said that they had seen Leeman drinking alcohol at a party earlier that day a few hours before the incident. His defense attorney, Roseline Feral that after his scheduled hearing she will ask for a less sentence of about 9 years. She also stated that the incident of Leeman’s hit and run was unfortunate and Leeman doesn’t deserve to be charged for murder. I believe that it was very wrong that the accident happened especially while he was under the influence. But what makes it worse was that Leeman did not stop to see if everything was okay, because in the end he would of still had consequences even though if maybe he wouldn’t have go caught up, so therefore I think he should be charged for murder but probably nine years in prison. I know for a fact this will change his life.

The article that I read this morning was a continuation of an article that I had read two days ago .this was about the little boy in Iraq that was burnt by a masked stranger wile playing out side.yousiff will soon get the help that he needs . The generosity of these people is overwhelming .nationally and internationally are working on getting him and his family passports to the united states . A very generous plastic surgeon agreed to do yousiffs surgery at no charge. Soon little yousiff will be able to smile again soon he will be the happy little boy he once was.
I think that that is very generous the way that so many people want to help towards yousiffs cause.
I feel that yousiff will soon get better

+ U.S. jet bombs British troops
+ This morning I read an article in the San Diego Union Tribune on U.S. jet bombing British troops. Three British soldiers were killed in a suspected "friendly fire" incident involving a bomb dropped from a U.S. fighter plane during a clash with Taliban militants in Afghanistan. The deaths of the soldiers, who were serving under NATO command, brings to 73 the number of British troops killed in Afghanistan since the U.S.-led offensive of 2001. Many of those have died in a recent upsurge in Taliban activity in Helmand. Two other soldiers were wounded and air-lifted to a nearby base for medical treatment. The soldiers' names and nationalities were not immediately released.
+ It sucks when people die for no reason but I guess that's what they asked for when they join an army. =(

optical illusions

BRITISH AND SWISS SCIENTISISTS HAVE FOUND A WAY TO SIMULATE OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCES. THEY HAVE CREATED A MACHINE A TYPE OF VIRTUAL REALITY THAT CAN SIMULATE OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCES. THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THINGS LIKE THESE SO THEY COULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION FOR THAT TYPE OF PARAPHANYLIA. THE SCINETISTS HAVE FOUND THAT THEY CAN SHOW PEOPLE A RUBBER HAND WHILE THEY HIDE THEIR OWN AND CREATE A SENSE THAT THE RUBBER HAND IS THE PERSON’S OWN HAND. THE STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT WHEN THE PEOPLE ARE PRESENTED WITH CONTROVERSIAL IMMAGES IOF THEIR OWN BODIES THE BRAIN CAN’T COPE SO IT BELIVES ITS OUT OF ITS BODY. TENDS TO HAPPEN IN MOMENTS OF STRESS OR UNDER THE INFLUNECE OF OPERATING UTENSILS. THE ARTICLE WAS VERY INTERESTING AND SHOWED HOW EASILY OUR BRAIN ADDAPTS TO OPTICAL ILLUSIONS.

Death Toll rises to 26 as floodwaters begin to recede in Midwest
In Findlay, Ohio water form the worst flood began receding. This allowed more than
1,000 homeowners to get a look at the soaked things in their basements. With more storms coming the tolls role up to at least 26 more people. In a county of Ohio alone the tally of damaged houses was more than 700. In Oklahoma City a body of a high school cross-country runner was recovered form a muddy rain swollen lake. He was swept away while trying to cross a flooded trail. He was 17 years old. This same day in Chicago’s airport 500 flights were canceled and others were delayed. The roof of a industrial building collapsed in the suburbs. This injured 40 people but there were no serious injuries. In Wheatland firefighters had a hard time putting jut a house fire because the building was surrounded by flood water. They had to take small boats out with pumps and draft form the surrounding water. This is very sad so many things happening all around the world. I think that it is great how people help each other.
