-The San Diego Union Tribune -Today the article that I read about was about gas prices. It was talking about how the gas prices have dropped. The gas price has dropped 18% in the past 3 months giving motorist a break. The regions average price for regular is $2.86 a gallon according to the utility consumers action network. That down from $2.94 one week ago and $3.10 last month on this date. Despite the recent declines motorist should note that it still pays to shop around because prices continue to vary substantially even between stations a short drive apart. While an ocean beach shell station yesterday was retailing regular for $3.09 a gallon a mission hills Arco was selling the same grade for $2.75. in many cases prices also vary within the same brand. All this is happening while the price for crude oil is rising which eventually raises the prices of gas. This is probably due to a cooling of demand an increase in supply and what some say is political pressure have driven down gas prices by 18 percent from their all time high of $3.50 a gallon three months ago. -I think that this is very good. I say this because as a motorist I suffer greatly from the gas prices. Most of my paycheck goes to my car for gas. That is why I borrow a car that uses up less gas. -One thing that I learned is that the gas prices have dropped 18%. But what is also surprising is that they are dropping while the price for crude oil is rising.
This is an advising article, helping people with the stress at the gas stations. Gas prices have lowered 18% since their all-time high of $3.50 three months ago. All this time, crude oil prices have been raising, which would have driven the gas prices higher than they are now. Gas is now at an average of below $3 which makes it look like a bargain. The average is actually $2.86, which is down $0.08 from last week and $0.24 since a month ago. In some places, gas could vary between $0.30 a gallon for that same grade of gas in different stations. In some gas stations, it is said that the sales in convenience stores and gas stations with car washes allow them to sell gas cheaper. It is also that it could also be the newly opened gas stations with the high prices that are part of this outrage. I think that all this could be fixed if the mayor would have intervened. I agree with the ones writing this article because they really researched to find out the causes. I like that the city is finally figuring that the prices are too high. The prices a dropping at an average now.
"BACK TO ZERO FOR PADRES" Major league shutout leaders blanked on three hits by rookie.padres pitcher Chris young is back to being Chris young nearly invincible at Petco park. unfortunately for young and the rest of the team the padres offense remained an erratic entity. rookie Ulbaldo Jimenez brought in a 6.57 ERA and shut out the padres for six innings, leding the third-place rockies to a 3-0 victory that put second-place San Diego three games hind the Diamondbacks in the nations league west.this was a sad but great article. because first that bad for S.D but i really don't go for the padres
Back in 1918 a flu epidemic hit the United States many people died because of the flu. Although many did not know what to do measures were taken to prevent the spreading as of curing it was not a possibility. Today doctors are becoming more interested in the fact that although the flu could not be cured it could be prevented. Many people’s lives were saved because certain laws were passed to prevent the spreading of the flu. Doctors are realizing that states that followed these laws were more likely to have less deaths than those states that followed only some of the laws. They used to think that things like quarantine and closing schools down would not help yet it did. So now they are taking that scene into consideration and taking same steps if it would repeat itself.
Most-distant Neptune is still a sight From time to time scientists figured out more things about our atmosphere and astronomy, then they once knew before. New information discovered by astronomers and scientists must be updated. That is why sometimes information once know or names given are change due to new facts. Pluto no longer is the farthest planet away from the sun. Actually, Pluto no longer is a planet, because some scientists have said that it is too small to be considered a plant. So therefore, with Pluto no longer being the furthest planet, the new furthest planet is Neptune. Neptune can be seen with unaided eyes or even binoculars. The new furthest planet can easily be seen since it is real bright. Neptune is approximately 2,698,818,112miles away from Earth, so scientists state that the miles between both planets are actually as close as it gets, which allows us to view the our new planet.
This morning i read an article on the Santa Barbara fire that he burning in the county's wilderness since July 4th. It is now going towards the Ventura County. The say that the smoke is heavily polluting the air, making it hard to see, breath, and live in. Many people have had to evacuate for safety precautions. There has been no deaths so far, but are still telling people to evacuate their homes, just to be safe. Spokesmen have said that the weather is cooperating with them because the winds aren't blowing as hard as they normally do. They say that they will have everything under control hopefully by Sep. 4th, and everything will be "contained"
I enjoyed reading this article because it just gives a good summary about whats happening in other county's. And it just gives us an outlook on things that are happening outside of San Diego. [:
This morning I read an article titled addicted gamblers to be offered affordable treatment. North county’s Santa Ysabel tribe has an agreement with a San Diego group to provide outpatient treatment for pathological gamblers. The treatment will be offered to anyone who has an issue with gambling, whether they do it at the casino, or at the track or online. The Santa Ysabel tribe agreed to give the county $3000,000 a year for the problem- gambling program. The Pala tribe will provide $150,000 a year for a problem- gambling program, which will go to a different contract for treatment elsewhere in the county. There are 10 Indian casinos, four card rooms, a race track and many lottery terminals. A study last year estimated that 4.5% of residents here and in neighboring counties are problem or pathological gamblers. I think this is a very good program and they could really help a lot of people.

Union Tribune. Man pleads guilty in crash that killed college student. A man was accused in the hit and run death of a 19 year old student in the College area pleaded guilty to killing the college student. Eric Joseph is the guy who killed a collage student. He also admitted he fled the site after he hit Whitney Young in La Mesa. She was struck about 3:15 am on November 12 while her and a group of her friends crossed Montezuma Road. She died at the hospital a few days later. His sentence hearing was set for Sept. 25. It is said that he could serve time in prison for up to 15 years. He would have to serve at least 85 percent of his prison term before he becomes eligible for parole. He had been tried and convicted of second degree murder. He was lucky because he could have been sent to prison for 15 to life. At the time of the crash pieces of the vehicle broke off on impact and were left in the street. Later that day a police officer saw a car that matched the description. Leeman was arrested a few days later. I think that this is unbelievable. How can he run over someone and just leave. He did not even care what happened to her. He cared more about himself. What if he would have gotten out and taken her to the hospital maybe that would have saved her life. I think that people should think more about the choices they make.
