A baby sea otter was found weak and starving in a Santa Barbara remote beach. The baby sea otter was in poor conditions so it was taken to San Diego Sea World. The first option was the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Since the non-exhibit area is being remodeled then the second best option was Sea World. The concern is that since she will be interacting with humans then her imprints on humans wont allow her to be part of the wild ever again. That means she will never be able to be out of captivity. So they are planning to pair the pup with a mature female sea otter to show her the ways of the wild. She is in good hands now.
Animals can mimic human character if they are small enough to learn it .
Animals that have already learned human character cannot go back into the wild
Sea otters are listed in the federal endangered list
It’s interesting how the baby sea otter survived with only five days of living the harsh conditions without a mother ot protect it and with needs for food and shelter.

Today I viewed a short film on cnn.com.entitled seven year old chases robber. This was about a little girl that was with her mother at her job at a liquor store. Then all of a sudden this man walks into the liquor store with a gun and a shirt covering his face. He started pushing buttons on the cash register .then the little girl tried pushing him away and telling him to leave her mommies store alone .he did not listen he took what he could and ran out the store the little girl hopped the counter and ran after the robber . She tried to stop him but he them pointed the gun at her . The little girl then got scared and she took her blanket and placed it over her head and ducked to the growned.
I feel that the mother of this child should not have put her at risk of danger like that.
I think that the little girl was very brave but she should have left it alone
I thought that that was truly amazing the way a seven year old stud up to a robber.

-The San Diego union tribune
-Minn. Bridge collapse kills 7
-Today I read in last Thursdays newspaper about the bridge on interstate 35w in Minneapolis. I read that an interstate bridge jammed with rush-hour traffic suddenly broke into huge sections and collapsed into the Mississippi river yesterday (Wednesday, August 1). It pitched dozens of cars 60 feet into the churning water and killing at least seven people. It was not immediately clear what caused the eight lane bridge on interstate 35w, a major Minneapolis artery, to break apart. It was in the midst of being repaired and had several lanes closed when it crumbled. Witnesses described a lamppost-shaking rumble at 6:05 p.m. as the concrete and steel structure rippled and broke apart, its 458 foot long central section plunging into the greenish water.
-I think that this article is pretty sad. It is very unfortunate that this happened.
-One interesting thing that I learned is that there was also a school bus that was on the bridge and the good thing that it didn’t fall to the river it could've gotten worse.

This morning I read an article titled Workers help colleague stuck in sand hopper. Last Wednesday, in El Cajon, two employees at a concrete production company jumped into a sand hopper to save a trapped co-worker. They jumped into the 30-foot structure where the colleague as covered in sand. They quickly uncovered the trapped worker. Rescue crews used a rope and ladder system to recover the three men. The first worker was unconscious and in critical condition. The other men were not injured.

4 Montana fires, aided by drought, became priority.

<33 I had read an article on the fires that had taken place in Montana yesterday. It was considered the highest priority in the West. It had burned at least 31,238 acres of land. There were many people that had to evacuate their homes. And that’s just about 49 square miles. 60 people had to evacuate their homes in their number one priority blaze, which was in the gates area of the mountains wilderness north of Helena. The numbers continued to double of the evacuations. The flames were outrageous. The flames were moving, and destroying quickly. Many people were highly upset, that they had lost their homes.

<33 This article is sad. I don’t know what the heck I would do If I lost my house and didn’t have any where to go after that, left with nothing. I would be devastated.

LEAD PAINT ON TOYS PROMPTS MATTEL RECALL

Mattel is recalling close to 1 million toys in the U.S. The products’ surfaces were covered in lead paint. The recall includes 83 different Fisher-Price products, most of the being “Sesame Street” and Nickelodeon characters. This worldwide recall covers 967,000 plastic toys made by a Chinese vendor that were sold in the U.S. between May and August. The lead found in these toys is toxic and can cause severe nerve damage if ingested. Infants and young children are the ones most at risk because exposure can result in behavioral disorders. On July 6, the company stopped operations to investigate the building. This is the largest recall since 1998 when they had to recall the Power Wheels due to safety hazards.

I think this company should have known what they were getting into. They should have taken more research when the paint was made. This event could have been prevented if these actions would have taken place.

This is Mattel’s 17th recall in a decade.

♥ San Diego Union Tribune.
♥ At the end of his rope.
♥ This morning I read an article on San Diego Charger's starting left defensive, Luis Castillo. It seems as if this season he wants to win more than ever. He works out daily and it is on constant watch of what healthy foods he's eating. Castillo runs with with his teammates for an hour at Charger's Park, lifted weights for 90 minutes, and worked on the elliptical machine for another 20 minutes daily. His teammates says because he works so hard that they have to curb what he does. Castillo is torn in the same way as a lot of young star athetes, especially those with winning personality and looks to go with their game. Like many top players, Castillo has a public relations firm working to promote him.

Bridge closed as precaution after earthquake jolts So Cal.
Today I have read a short article about the bridge in LA. A mild earthquake rattled Los Angeles around 1:00am on Thursday. This lead officials to close six lane bridge as a precaution. They found minor cracks on the bridge after the quake. The magnitude of the quake was 4.5. Three after shocks were reported ranging form 1.6 to 1.8 of magnitude. There was no immediate reports of injuries. The closure of this bridge came just days from the fatal bridge collapse in Minneapolis. California motorist cross bridges millions of times and classify them as “structurally deficient”. In the other hand the state has said that none of the bridges are in danger of falling down. Officials shut down the bridge overnight for more inspections. The Santa Clarita bridge is 300 feet long and opened in 1990s. I think that that is scary. I personally have never liked bridges. I'm scared they are going to come tumbling down. I think that it is good that they closed that bridge, specially with what happened in Minneapolis just the other day. I think that the bridges should be inspected properly and if there are lots of cracks they should be closed.
