♥ San Diego Union Tribune
♥ "Day lets latina focus on their health"
♥ This morning I read anarticle on a day when Latin women took a break and learned about their health. It was an annual conference for latinas held by Sharp Hospital and it drew a crowd of 650 women. The problem today with women is that they think that they will be healthy eating right, exercising, and staying away from drugs. This is correct but- there are still many ways that women can still be unhelathy. Persuading women to think more about themselves is just one of the reasons Sharp HealthCare hosted the conference. The annual conference was held on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at a Harbor Island Hotel. Last year the same conference had 500 women and even this year 250 women were put on the waiting list for next years event. There were booths where women could get tested, those tests included screenings for high blood pressure and diabetes, along with body mass index, and a measure of obesity.
♥ I thought that this was a great idea for women because they're mothers who do not have the time to think about themselves, yet alone their health. This was a great oppurtunity for Latin women.
♥ The article had a few tips for Latinas;
1.)Emergency care isn't always necessary and is very expensive. If an injury does not appear serious, go to an urgent care facility, where costs will be lower.
2.) If you have insurance, choose a doctor before you have an urgent health issue.
3.) Don't be afraid to speak up if you have questions or complaints.

Title: San Diego Union Tribune
This article is about a student studying in southern Spain who snapped photos of herself in a bikini and sent it to her boyfriend in the U.S. A year later she received an email of her photos and a message that read: “I think these belong to you? I have accessed all your e-mails and files on your computer. These pictures are very nice. It would be bad if these got out. If you tell anyone about this, even your boyfriend I will email everyone you have ever emailed with these pictures. This is not a joke. Do you understand?” This message was given by a fake name called Jon Smithhacker. So the frightened girl notified the police and the police said that the schools Internet security was fine and that the pictures must have been stolen. Her sisters fiance Michael Fletcher Norris offered the girl to contact the web site her photos were posted on and tell them to remove them. But soon afterward the school planned to launch an investigation, Norris had confessed to be the one who posted the pictures and sent the threatening message… He later pleaded guilty to a felony charge related to identity theft and was sentenced in February to a year in county jail.

Should The Drinking Age Be Lowered?
In the past three years legislators from Vermont, New Hampshire and Wisconsin, have given reasons why the drinking age should be lowered. They believe if a 18 year old female or male adult is mature enough to go to war and kill people and take the risk of getting killed, isn’t he mature enough to drink with his family at a farewell party? If a women is responsible enough to sign a house under her name, well isn’t she responsible enough to be able to drink? In that case, yes I believe that they should earn the right to drink legally. But that not the case for many of us. The truth is that not a lot of young people are so responsible as others. Which means that if the drinking age where to be decreased at age, there would be many who would still violate the law. Even if they have the age to drink many would be taking advantage drinking the night heavily, not be aware that not only can it be dangerous to them, but once they get into the drivers seat of a car they are risking anyone else’s life in the car or whom ever they may crash to or run over due the excess intake of alcohol. So suppose there are some responsible young adults out there, there’s always the other half who may act responsible but are immature because they don’t even think about what a harm and danger to be under the influence can be. At many times having a few hours of drinking or getting high its worth losing the rest of your life either dead, or maybe even luckily to live but as a vegetable or with a tragic scar about what you experienced while under the influence. So i believe that there is no need to lower the drinking age, if there are some responsible young adults like those who go to war or own their own house well maybe instead of changing it for everyone they could go get permission to drink for the day or weekend at vacation. But lowering the drinking age will put many of us at risks not only us but maybe in the future our kids. Besides kids are able to get alcohol under age anyway, so too bad. Until everyone can really prove how mature they are, then drinking age should stay at 21.

-The San Diego Union Tribune
-Lawyers death a nightmare
-In the article that I read today was about a lawyer. It says about how he was shot in the head. The lawyers career in san Diego county had spanned for 38 years. He handled family and criminal cases. Everything from divorce to murder. He was looking forward to retirement. His death came 13 months after his second wife had killed herself. Police and relatives quickly began to piece together a chilling scenario after McNeil's stepdaughter made some alarming statements. Within hours his two step children were accused of the slaying. Police say the pair killed his stepfather for his money.
-I think that this incident is pretty sad and that the two stepchildren were pretty messed up if they are guilty. I could probably understand if he was a bad step dad but it say that he was good to them.
-One interesting that I learned is that he was about to retire well in two years but he had started buying rental properties in la mesa yuma and la jolla

Quinceñera a time to give thanks, an d a time to party. In Spanish quince means 15 and a quinceañera is a girl turning 15 years old.In practical terms , a quinceañera ,means a celebration months in planning by her Mexican family the quinceañera dates to the Aztec era, when it signified the teen"s passage from childhood to womanhood. since then , the celebration has been adapted to the time and place. CHEVY STILL ADMIRED AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

Ken Willers, owner of a 57’ Chevy Bel Air, talks about his current work now while being retired. Willer speaks about his prized possession and how he came upon it. In 2001, he purchased the vehicle for $8,500 from a Nebraska man and had to rebuild it from the chassis up. He said that he had to put about $64,000 to make perfection. The car was completely demolished due to being in stock car races. Now being fully restored, Willer aid his car brings himself and the viewer back to a time of peace and prosperity. He said that he had budgeted $20,000 on the car but that wasn’t even enough for the paint job. His insurance company appraised it for $75,000.

I think that this man is a good person, taking in the hobby to let this car still live on the streets. I like that he has good taste in cars and that he’s dedicated to restoring his Chevy. I agree with him because I also have a love for old school cars.

When first made, a new 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air went for $2,300.

Union Tribune- L.A man gets 5 years prison.
Today I have read a short article about a man in L.A that was accused of planning to blow up a building. He was planning to profit when financial markets were affected by the explosion. He was sentenced to five years in federal prison. Prosecutor wanted to give him 7 and a half years. The man pleaded guilty to weapons possession in connection with the discovery of a pipe bomb and two homemade incendiary devices. The reason those objects were found was because the truck they were in was stolen and they were looking for that truck. This lead to more searched which they eventually found the pipe bombs, assault weapons, jet fuel and ammunition. The man said that his notes on ways to blow up buildings should not have been taken seriously. He said that it was just his imagination running wild. I think that this man is seriously crazy. How can he said that they should not have taken him seriously when he was trying to blow up a building. Why would someone try to do that. I think that he should get more years in prison because he was planning to kill innocent people.

id theft

I was reading this article about a woman whose identity was stolen. I know that nowadays stories like these are very common and not really interesting news. But what caught my attention was the fact that the woman's identity was not stolen for economical type of fraud but just to tarnish her reputation and to make her feel bad. The woman was devastated when she received an e-mail with private pictures of her and a letter telling her not to contact the police or to tell her family or he would find out and post these pictures online. She contacted the police immediately but soon realized with the help of friends that the accuser had been serious about his accusations and did indeed post her personal photos on various adult websites. She went to the police immediately after. The police questioned her and even her family to see what could be done to catch the perjurer. Once the investigation was ready to commence her brother in law confessed to be the responsible for those actions and the e-mails. He was arrested for identity theft and for threatening of a person. He is now saying he is a changed man and even though that were true the damage is still done. There is no way to know that the images of the woman have been removed from the internet or even to secure that they stay off. Her reputation has been tarnished and there is no way of explaining that to others. Inevitably the sole purpose of the such atrocious act was met.
