Union Tribune: Computer glitch strands thousands at L.A. airport.

In Los Angeles, about 6,000 international passengers were stranded for as long as six hours. The reason behind all this was because of computer failures. The air port has been really serious about who to let inside the airport ever since 9-11 happened. The computers were needed to be able to site arrest warrants for people trying to leave the country. The system allows them to make the decision of allowing people to enter the United States also. Some of the computers did not function until about 9:15 PM. None of the passengers were being told of what was happening, and everyone was beginning to get claustrophobic. Some people were stuck on their planes for as long as 5 hours.

I think that there should never be a time when the computers would just shut down out of no where. Computers need to be updated perfectly and there should be better security, because some one may have been trying to sneak onto a plane.

Surf statue draws a wave of criticism<33

This morning I read an article on the surf statue that was placed in Cardiff-by-the-sea. Where many people are very disappointed by it, and feel offended. They say that the move that is posed on the statue, isn't even a "
TRUE SURFING MOVE". They also make the statue look scrawny. So a wave of criticism draws from the statue, making it hard to please the crowd. There has been pranks made on the statue, like putting pink skirts, binkini tops, and lucha libre mask on the statue. The statue is about 16 feet high, and its considered a "misfire"
♥ I find this article a little bit funny, but yet sad. Because the artist feels that he did a good job, while others feel he did horrible.

+ Rescuers drilling two holes to reach 6 trapped miners
+ This morning I read an article on rescuers who worked drilled two hole to try to save 6 of the trapped miners. It all took place in Huntington, Utah where rescue crews were clinging on a mountainside sturggling to drill the two narrow holes. The rate of the progress was very good news. But it could take at least seven days to actually reach the men and bring them back. The drilling of the relief hole involves boring an extraordinary 1,500 feet straight down, 150 stories into the Earth. The smaller hole could be used to ferry a communications line into the shaft. The larger hole, being drilled with more accurate technology, could be used to move provisions to the workers. But two holes have been drilled in case one is unsuccessful.
+ It's impressive when people put in a lot of hard work and time to help other people. =)

Title: The San Diego Union Tribune
This article is about two fossils that were found in Kenya have shaken the human family tree, possibly rearranging major branches thought to be in a straight ancestral line to Homo sapiens. Scientists dated and analyzed the specimens a 1.44 million-year-old Homo erectus, said that their findings challenged the conventional view that these species evolved one after the other. Instead, they apparently lived side by side in eastern Africa for almost half a million years. If this interpretation is correct the early evolution of the genus Homo is left even more of a mystery than before. It means that habilis and erectus must have originated from a common ancestor between 2 million and 3 million years ago a time of which fossil hunters had drawn a virtual blank.

*Reggie the gator debuts at L.A. Zoo.
Fans of Reggie the alligator came to the Los Angeles Zoo on Thursday for the debut of the city’s most famous reptile, who spent nearly two years eluding capture. The zoo’s LAN Recchio kept a tight grip on Reggie’s jaws as he prepared to release him into the zoo’s reptile exhibit. Reggie had been quarantined since his capture in May. This alligator cruised an urban lake for nearly two years. This damn alligator was 71/2 feet tall, and it weighed 114 pounds. The zoo has six other American alligators and two Chinese alligators. Reggie was spotted in Harbor City’s Machado Lake in August 2005. Authorities say a man who illegally raised Reggie as a pet dumped him in the lake when he got too big♣♣♣

*Probe leads to arrest of 13 members of two gangs.
All these dudes on the list got raided like some rookies. Joseph Aufotu, 39, on suspicion of possession of stolen credit card and parole violation. George Cruz of Perris, 37, drug sales. Vaeua llasa, 34, felon in possession of gun and ammunition. There's like ten more dudes. More than a dozen gang members were arrested in Oceanside yesterday. This all started when an investigation that began after two teenage gangsters were accused of killing Oceanside police officer Dan Bessant in December. The po-po’s were deep, officers from three departments, and agents from the FBI and DEA fanned out and served five search warrants in three Oceanside neighborhoods. 1 interesting fact that I thought was trippy, no one was seriously injured in the raids♣♣♣

-The San Diego union tribune
-Google is watching streets of San Diego
-The article that I read today was about Google. it was about how Google was putting street views on the maps. It says that san Diego was added to the maps. It says that the new idea is somewhat controversial. So far only major thoroughfares and streets in popular locales such as downtown, the beaches, Coronado and certain neighborhoods have been photographed. Google plans to fill in more streets before going back in the next few years to refresh the shots. Part of Google maps, street view offers miles of panoramic street level images of streets here and in new York, san Francisco, las Vegas, Miami, Denver, los angeles, Houston, and Orlando. To see these street views you must go to www.maps.google.com and click on street view.
-I think that this idea pretty cool. this way tourist can get better images of where they want to go or where is it nicer.
-One new thing that I learned is what the article was about. How we can get street views of certain streets and can help us while traveling and can help tourists.

The article I chose to read this morning was titled mine survivor . The article was about a couple of mine workers that were just working one day and then something terrible accord out of nowhere. this accident took place on august 6 on a Tuesday . While the miners were working the mine collapsed with the workers inside. Two of the miners managed to escape the mine but there were still six men inside. The two men that got out of the mine did not give up on the rest of there crew the did every thing that they could possibly do but there was no luck in store for these six men. They went at it for days they even went for more help . There was still no luck for these six other men. The two other workers did every thing in there power for these men But they did not succeeds. now they live with the guilt that they could have done more even there was really no more that they could do .after days of being trapped in that mine they were probly no more.
I feel that those two survivors did everything in there will two try and save those six men
I think that they are luck for being the only two survivors
I thought that that was truly heroic of the two workers.

Robert Therrien goes large
There has been a new great renovation made of a 9 foot tall, 8 foot long dining table. Robert Therrien the maker of this great new sculptural furniture. A while back about thirteen years ago he had made a wonderful piece, as his giant “under the table”, was fascinated by many. His newer version is simply named, “No Title.” Therrien holds a fascination for gigantic, representing in many major international museum collections. Some of his past collections due with being big as, an outsized stack of dishes seemingly to insecurely balance. In 2000, he was recognized for his excellence at the Los Angeles Museum of Art. Many viewers are attracted to Robert Therrien’s work not only because of it’s size, but the fact that his work has a realistic detail to it. His art is best described as narrative, perfectly ordinary but absolutely out of this world. You can visit Robert’s wonderful work at Museum of Contemporary of Art in Downtown. I have actually seen this myself at Santa Fe by the Amtrak station. I believe that Therrien's work is amazing and very eye-catching, and I actually look forward to view this attraction personally. Those 25 yrs and over are $5 and those under 25 yrs are free at cost.

WATER WORRIES

San Diego County residents depend on the San Joaquin Delta in Northern California for a third of their water supply. The delta has the ability to provide safe, high quality water. It is becoming an uncertain place but the delta is the centerpiece of San Diego County’s future water supply. The delta is troubled by struggling fish species. It has been the attention maker for a long time, having lawsuits and levees on its behalf. The sufficient supplies are now in jeopardy with all the outrage. This debate could dramatically affect San Diego County, millions of Southern Californians and millions of acres of farmland in the San Joaquin Valley. What is being debated is whether California will take initiative to prevent a full-blown water crisis.
I think California officials can take responsibility to fix what needs to be fixed. I think that this choice will help us for the better if we take action. I disagree with the people that want to take out the fish to use the water.
Nevada’s Lake Mead is experiencing a seven-year drought.
