♥------RED H0T HAWAII-------♥

This morning i had read an article on Hawaii and the volcanoes that are there. Hawaii is also known for the "hot spot" because 700,000 years ago it was blasted from a stationary hot spot within the Earth before being rafted away. There are 4 active volcanoes there, but only two have spit lava in the last 200 years. One of the valcanoes that had spit lava recently was Kilaueas in 1983 and with the lava from the valcano it has added 570 acres of land to the Islands southern coast. The eruption had caused a lot of damage to peoples homes, and left a lot of people homeless. With nothing remaining, or standing.

I enjoy reading this article cause I didnt know that much about Hawaii. I just always thought that it was about "paradise" and the views there. But i learned something new. Thats always nice. yeaaaahhh thatt.

Fitness
The magazine article that I read today was about burning fat. It was about answering our top fat-burning questions. The first question asked what exactly is fat burning exercise. And the answer is when you exercise aerobically. It says that our body uses both body fat and glycogen as fuel. During low intensity activities such as walking our body draws on fat as its primary fuel source. As you pick up the pace you'll begin using a smaller percentage of fat and a larger percentage of glycogen. It also says that lifting weights will help you burn more fat. As long as you do them correctly. Another thing that helps you burn fat is some forms of yoga. And it says that the safest way to burn fat is through regular exercise. Because some supplements are dangerous.
I think that this article is interesting. I did learn a lot of new things from this article. I think it does help a lot.
One interesting thing that I learned is that stuff like Ephedrine a.k.a ma huang may increase your risk of a heart attack, hypertension, stroke, insomnia, tremors and death.

Title: KPBS cuts two local shows, 12 employees.

10 Sentence Summary:
Yesterday KPBS canceled two local programs. The shows that were canceled were the radio show “ A Way With Words ” and the TV show “ Full Focus ”. Along with canceling the shows, they laid off 12 employees. Doug Myrland said that both programs had success in the past but since there are new trends it indicates that future potential for audience revenue growth is small. Dough is the general manager of the public broadcasting station. Martha Barnett and Grant Barrett are two examples of people that got laid off as of August 2, 2007. They were co-hosts of “A Way With Words ”. The show has been around for almost a decade. The co-hosts said they were talking with potential sponsors and stations about taking the program elsewhere. Although there were cutbacks Myrland said KPBS is not in financial trouble and is remaining to commit to local programming.

3 Sentence Reflection:
I don’t think that it’s fair for the 12 employees to get laid off just out of no where they should have been notified on what was happening. I feel pain for the employees because they have been hosting the shows for so long and now they have to find another job or even another profession. If KPBS would have put more advertisement I believe that the shows would have been more of a success than it was before that’s why I think it was planned out.

♥ SD Union Tribune
♥ A Faltering First For Detroit Three
♥ According to an analyst who tracks industry numbers , the Detroit Automakers' share of the U.S. market dropped below 50% in July for the first time in history. The automakers who have yet to report data are small and would not push the three back over 50%. The Detroit automakers' share was as high as 77.4% in 1984. The market share drop came during a month in which all major automakers but Nissan Motor saw sales decline. The fact that foreign nameplates now control more than half the U.S. market mean little to the average consumer. Toyota sold more vehicles than Ford last month. Its truck sales were flat thanks in part to heavy incentives, but its car sales fell 11%. Toyota was still at number 2 with sales records.
♥ The most interesting fact was that July share of car sales in United States dips below 50%.

The use of a electric shaver
Using an electric shaver benefits fighting irritation. Unlike razor electric shavers are much better for your skin. Not only will your legs look nice but you won’t have to worry about any dry skin. Normal shaving from razors not only shaves the hair remaining on your leg, but it also shaves your skin as well. So that way it makes it much healthier to shave your legs with an electric shaver. But the only down part about the use of a electric razor is that you won’t be able to get a close shave and sometimes you will have to go over a spot more than once. Women who use electric shavers can have a better result than a man’s use of the shaver. Being that a men’s head has many angles making it a bit harder to use a shaver on their head than on your leg or else where . Electric shavers can act similar to razors allowing you to shave your legs, arms, underarms, or even any bikini line area. Using electric shavers is a best result for those who have sensitive skin.

VITAMINS AND MINERALS
A BASIC GUIDE

VITAMIN B3

Vitamin B3 is the third member of the B-complex family of vitamins. Niacin is the name and it is vital for normal brain function. Having low levels of niacin has also been linked to schizophrenia and depression. Vitamin B3 also improves the health of skin, blood circulation, and the digestive system. Unless supervised by a registered practitioner, do not take more than the daily 100mg dose. Doses above 100 mg can cause side effects including burning and itching skin. Some studies show that taking more than 500mg can cause some liver damage. Niacin is available in two forms- niacin and niacinamide. Women of childbearing age are likely to require more niacin to convert tryptophan into vitamin B3. Liver, lean meats, whole grains, peanuts, fish, and eggs are all good sources for niacin.
I like this book because it teaching you the basics of the vitamins we take everyday. I agree with the people that wrote this book because they are here for our awareness. This should be a mandatory when we learn about medicines in our schools.
Eating sunflower seeds and prunes will also boost your levels of vitamin B3.

Abandoned Sea Otter Regains Health.

A baby California Sea Otter was found on the shores of Santa Barbara beach. The sea otter still had its umbilical cord attached. No one knows why the sea otter was abandoned by her mother. An animal specialist from Sea World took in the sea otter and fed it for 24 hours a day. The pup gained about a pound since then. Usually when abandoned wild animals are found, they are either put back into the wild, or put into the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which has tanks that sea otters can regain health, and be put back into the wild. Fortunetly, the cute little sea otter wasn't able to be put into the rehabilitation program due to the tanks undergoing renovation. Sea World was the next obvious point for it to live. Since the Otter has already began a bond with humans, it is not safe to let it back into the wild. The otter will have to learn its natural living skills from the other female otters who were also raised in sea world.

I think its very cute how an animal can be very sick and then be revived. Its amazing how certain animals are found just in time to be taken care of. I can't wait to go to sea world when the sea otter is actually living there. I want to see it. Maybe they'll point it out to us. The otter was very cute. Hopefully the otter is a boy so it can help reproduce since the california sea otter is endangered.

This morning I read an article titled Kitten found in alley with eyes painted shut. In Logan Heights on Tuesday, a woman found a kitten with her eyes spray painted shut. She turned it over to the county Department of Animal Services. There was a spray-paint can found not far from the kitten. The kitten’s face had been sprayed so much her eyes were sealed shut. The department’s staff removed some of the paint and the kitten was able to somewhat open her eyes. The department reported that the kitten was eating well. This case is an act of intentional animal cruelty and can be prosecuted as a felony. The kitten will stay at the Gaines street shelter as evidence, and it is uncertain if the kitten will be put up for adoption. I thought this article was really sad and I just can’t understand how someone could do that to a little kitten.

The article that I read this morning was titled teen says he brought a gun to school to end taunt. this article was about a sixteen year old boy who shot his school principal and killed him. the boys name was Eric hainstock he attended Weston school .the boy was only sixteen he said he did it unintentionally . But that was all a lie. this boy suffered from attention deficit disorder. Eric said that he was always being teased that he was constantly given swirlys getting thrown in bushes and getting picked on. But what Eric left out was that he wasn’t such a saint himself he also picked on people called them names etc. he said that he only brought the gun to taunt people to show them he wasn’t a punk. Eric wasn’t as smart he took out the gun and began to yell out orders for every one to get together in one room to do as he says. He said he only wanted to scare them. But he ended up killing the principal .the principal tried to take the gun from the kid but he would not hand it over so the kid accidentally shot the prinapal the first time then shot him two more times he said the first was an accident and the other two were out of shock. The boy might be sentenced to life in jail the only people who could save him now is the jury.
I thought that the boy was very wrong in doing what he did
I feel that the child will serve his rightful time.
I think that the boy regrets what he did .

Union Tribune “ Close kin or distant relative?” Airobi, Kenya, jawbones form an early human ancestor, found recently in northeast Ethiopia. The bones were found in the fossil-rich Afar region, just 20 miles north of the spot where the famed skeleton of “Lucy” an early human ancestor who lived 3.2 million years ago was unearthed in 1947. The bones are believed to date form 3.8 million to 3.5 million years ago. Though more research needs to be done, the group says the bones could bridge the gap between two known human ancestors. Some researchers believe that Lucy and others of her species were descendant of A. anamensis. And these new Ethiopian jaw bones could end that speculation. Finding a compete jawbone is crucial in determining how a human ancestor developed. The earlier species had large canine teeth and narrow jaw. When Lucy appeared, compared to A. anamensis the jaw had widened the canines had become smaller and the molars had grown. Such changes suggest that the A. aferensis chewed not tore its food. Generally the bones could help clarify a long standing debate in human evolution. How many branches of human ancestor existed millions f years ago. The scientist wonder is some evolve into new forms only to die out and disappear. I think that it is so interesting how they can find so much about people that lived millions of years ago just by looking at their bones. It think that we have evolved tremendously. I find it very interesting the things scientist learn about our ancestors.
